Being Prepared

It can be fun traveling with your baby, if you prepare and makes things easy simple.  One thing you want to do is to make a checklist.  A checklist made the day before you leave will ensure you that you are and will be prepared for your travel.  Depending upon the age whether newborn, toddler, or pre-school age, you want to make sure everything is covered before leaving the home.  Now, your trip can be going to grandma’s house, a weekend trip or maybe longer, whatever the length you want to make sure you are ready.  Here are helpful tools that will help make your trip fun with your baby.

Comfort Helps

If your baby will be sleeping in the car for long periods, be sure and bring plenty of blankets and pillows for comfortable resting.

Snacks Can Help

Food items - A trip will not survive, if you do not bring your baby’s favorite snack.  Make sure you have plenty of food and snack items including fluids like juices and water.

Taking A Break

In any trip that is taken you must make stops, which gives you an opportunity to stretch and toileting time. Be sure and bring plenty of undergarments, change of clothes and diapers.

Keeping It Safe

Car seats and/or booster seats – It is the law that a child under seven years of age have proper seating or a fine or ticket will be issued.

Toys Make Friends

Toys – Even babies have a favorite toy that they become accustomed to.  If you have a toddler or pre-school age, it is a lot easier to allow them to choose the toy that they will like to have on the trip.

Emergencies Can Occur

A first-aid kit is always necessary for emergencies.  A set of numbers for car failures and a spare in your trunk will help you in case of a breakdown.

Listing of Numbers

Make sure you have contact numbers on for directions. A set of numbers handy will help you if you need to make a phone call for any unexpected thing to occur.

Having Protection

Window shields for your child, which will protect them from the sun.

Music Passes The Time

Bring along your favorite music for you and baby for sing-a-long times.

Books Can Be Fun

Books to read will be helpful for that moment that you stop or after arriving to your destination.

Double Check Yourself

Once you have checked off everything on your list, go back and reassure yourself so that you will not forget anything.

Any Little Bit Can Help

Traveling with your baby will be fun and enjoyable.  Everything is in place for emergencies as well as Now that you have everything prepared and ready to go, take time to place everything neatly and arranged.  If you are traveling alone, you may want to arrange things within reach.  If you are traveling with another person and your baby, it will be a little help for you during your trip.

Things To Remember

Now, you and your baby and/or companion are ready for your trip.  Another important thing, make sure you eat a balanced meal before going on your trip.  If you travel alone you don’t want to eat too much or you will get sleepy.  If you have the convenience of having a designated driver you can take turns on your trip. Be safe and have fun.

Great tips. Without planning ahead for a trip with baby it may be the parents that are saying, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" :o)
