Babies and Sleep:

For many of us there seems something rather special, if not sacred, about sleep. It is a marvelous time when we sometimes go on adventures or at least relax and rest our bodies.

Watching your baby sleep for the first time may be a memorable experience for you, but some people do not give much thought to where their child should sleep, or what they should sleep on. Luxury baby bedding may sound fabulous, but there are a number of factors to consider.

In some cases there may be a necessity for the baby to sleep in the same room as the parent or parents. Among these cases are doctor recommendations, sick or troubled babies, and overly cautious first-time parents.

A whole host of other reasons may make it seem a good idea for baby to sleep in the same room as you though. If you do choose to lay the baby to rest in the same room there are some considerations.

Choosing the right Fabric:

Co-Sleeping

The first major consideration is that the American Academy of Pediatrics advises against co-sleeping. There have been numerous cases of babies dying while in bed with a parent or older sibling.

Even when the baby is placed in a cradle or other sleeping area by themselves there are additional considerations. It is ultimately your choice, but before considering co-sleeping an option it is recommended that you read the literature about the practice and talk to your doctor.

Regardless of whether the baby's sleeping area is in your room or their own consider these simple tips. First ensure that the surface is flat and firm. Most baby sleeping areas offer this standard. You may choose to purchase a new pad or mattress for your child's sleeping area though.

The surface should be covered with a fitted sheet. From basics to luxury baby bedding offer this in most sets. The edges should be secure to prevent the sheet from coming loose. Many luxury baby bedding sets may use elastic to secure them. If the elastic in your Crib Bedding set is weakening consider replacing your baby bedding. Be certain that the area is free of toys and small objects.

Especially when the baby is new-born you may want to select a baby bedding set without ruffles and adornment. Another option is to use a more basic baby bedding at first and then allow the baby to “graduate” to a luxury baby bedding with all the frills for a more swanky look and feel.

The right position:

The last tip may prove more difficult to ensure. The baby should be flat on its back. It is recommended that the baby should not sleep on its side or on its front. This is obviously a difficult accomplishment in some cases. You may place the baby on its back, only for the baby to roll over an hour after being laid on its luxury baby bedding.

All that you can do is gently place the sleeping baby back on its back. A tendency to do this is additional reason to be especially careful about the baby bedding that you use, luxury baby bedding or otherwise.
