Protect your Child from H1N1

H1N1 is a very dangerous kind of flu that can sometimes even cause death. Any kind of flu is dangerous once we are infected by it. Hence prevention is better than cure. Children are most vulnerable to any disease because of their tender age and lack of knowledge of many things. So we must educate our children about this type of flu, its signs and symptoms.

The main thing is awareness. We have to make our children used to things that will be beneficial for them to prevent getting affected. They must wash hands frequently, something that all the medical experts always advise for, as most of the diseases get spread through unclean hands. We use our hands the maximum compared to the other parts of our body, to touch, eat and drink and almost for everything. Hence the transfer of germs is the most through hands; infection can spread instantly if you come in contact with any a person who is suffering from any sort of viral disease or illness. So we must use good sanitizers and make the children wash their hands at regular intervals. We must keep a watch on their eating habits as well and make sure that they avoid eating outside food.

The food that we eat at home has to be washed properly.  We must ask our children to cover their mouths when sneezing to avoid the spreading of germs. They should stay away from people who are sneezing or coughing. They should avoid coming in contact with them. The house should be kept clean, especially the door knobs, as they are used a lot. The H1N1 virus can stay active from 5 to 8 hours, so extra care has to be taken.

It is very necessary that we make sure that our child’s immune system is strong enough. If the immune system is weak then no matter what we do, we cannot prevent the disease. It will affect our child even before we realize it. As we all are aware that H1N1 initially shows simple symptoms like cough, so the immune has to be very strong to fight the virus. Children have to keep themselves clean and eat healthy and take as much rest as possible.

The most important thing is educating the child to be alert and to be able to take care of themselves even in the absence of their parents. These habits have to be a part of their daily routine so that they get accustom to it, avoid eating outside food and stay away from people who are not well.

A new born baby is very prone to catch infection instantly by a slight contact as H1N1 is a virus that is spread very easily, it is an important to know that facts and symptoms of this virus and get your child vaccinated as soon as possible to prevent this severe infection. It is always advisable to consult your doctor for the vaccination as it helps your child to fight against the infection. It is very important to breastfeed your baby as it helps to strengthen your child’s immune system if at all she gets infected by swine flu or any such type of flu virus. Maintain hygiene as it is very necessary for your little one to keep away from all the harmful and infected viruses. After all, your baby’s health is the most important concern for you as a parent.
