Going Green with Children: Make Your Child Environment Friendly

With the climate change and the earth getting warmer day by day, it is our utmost priority to save the earth from the ill effects of warming and reverse the process. It is not possible for one person to do it, but if every person puts in his or her contribution, we can definitely try and slow down the process to a great extend. Every person on the earth has to be completely aware of this fact. The most important category in this is the young children, as they are our future. The knowledge that children gain today will decide the fate of our world tomorrow. Hence educating our children about the environment and going green should be our first priority.

Why wait for the child to grow up? We should start inculcating these habits, qualities and knowledge in them from their preschool days, so that by the time they reach adulthood, they get well acquainted with it and make it a part of their lifestyle. Going green does not mean only planting more trees. It includes the reservation of all the resources that we have and used in our daily life, such as water, electricity, paper, food and many more things. We can teach them to use water only when necessary and save it as much as possible, to switch off the lights when not in use, to not waste paper but make productive use of them. Get your child used to walking as much as they can rather than traveling in luxurious cars. These are few individual ways of teaching a child to save energy resources. With the scarcity of all the resources, we must teach our children to respect our environment and live in peace with it.

We can teach your child to save food by having only the required amount and avoid wastage of food. We need to train them in each and every sphere of life. In case of waste disposal we can teach them proper ways of disposing waste and to keep personal hygiene and to maintain hygiene around ourselves. Different age children learn different things, we can teach them to make good use of the knowledge that they are gaining. Only if they know the value and importance of the resources that humans are blessed with, will they be able to conserve them by making them understand to use those things that are not harmful for the environment and would save the consumption of the resources.

We all know that the wildlife is going extinct with the cutting of trees and the brutal killing of animals by human beings for their own selfish needs. We have to encourage more and more children to turn vegetarians to stop the killing of animals and discourage hunting as a profession, which is banned in several countries. The earth is a place for all living creatures and not just human beings alone. Hence we have to maintain it by taking care of it and let everyone live in peace. Because the earth belong to every living being! So let’s preserve it as it provides for our livelihood.
