Being at Ease During Delivery

If this is the first time having a baby I know that it is scary at first but here are some good tips that help  put away that “delivery day jitters.”  It may sound repetitive when hearing everyone telling saying  to relax and calm down.  It is important to make the surrounding area as comfortable and as positive as possible.   It is in the best interest to control who comes and who goes.  Getting moral support from a trained individual may help.

In the hospital setting there trained staff available during the delivery.  The mid-wife which is a registered nurse and doctor are the two important people during this time.  There is trained staff available to assist during this time as well.  The hospital has trained staff that can help you get through your procedure successfully.    The hospital policy allows for at least one family member to assist in the delivery room.  It is important to make sure they have a positive mindset, if they are going to help.

Many mothers especially “first time mothers” may end up with early labor pains.  The doctor will conduct the examination and make the   determination if it is time to deliver.   Sometimes a decision can be made to be sent home because of false labor.

Many doctors and mid-wives will give you instructions to follow until the birthing process begins. As long as you adhere to the mid-wife and doctors instructions there will be no complications during the procedure.  The doctors who will carefully monitor each patient for any abnormalities during the pregnancy and ensure a healthy delivery.

Hospital expectations are simple as long as followed. The care given is 24 hours around the clock  for the convenience of each patient at the hospital.  When arriving at the hospital it is procedure  that are paperwork is completed before labor starts.  The vital signs will begin by a nursing staff who will include the blood pressure and temperature.  Your vitals will be monitored to ensure nothing goes wrong during the delivery. 

In some cases  blood samples or urine specimens taken for testing to ensure everything is normal.  The mid-wife will be conducting several test, including a vaginal exam to check the dilation and cervix area.  When labor begins it will be called, ” active labor” which means the baby is closer to delivery time.   The mid-wife will again check for dilation until the baby is born. 

Each female goes through a different type of labor pattern.  There are cases where a heart can speed up and sometimes slow down.  The doctors and mid-wife are monitoring very closely for any abnormalities.

After the baby is born,  the doctors will continue to observe  to make sure all is well and no complications occur during your pregnancy.  Once released from the hospital the doctor will give recommendations do’s after pregnancy.  It is important to follow the instructions, because they are in best interest for a healthier body and mentality.
